The Area

We are spoiled by the nature...
The mill is located in the little hamlet of Crupies with 91 residents, not far from Bourdeaux in the district of DIE in the south of France.

We value the local biological farms and we make extensive use of local produce such as goat-cheese, meat, eggs, fruits and vegetables.

Crupies is at an altitude of 480m above sea level. We are told that the famous micro-climate of the region is especially healthy for people suffering from asthmatic or cardiac problems.
The mild climate of the area allows a pleasant outdoor pursuits as early as March, when we enjoy the first  days of spring. The summer heat is very bearable because the nights are cool. Autumn lasts until November when the stone-oaks in the forests put on their beautiful colours.
The region also grows marvellous Lavender. The huge fields are in blossom from May up to July. Also notable are the centuries old olive trees are belonging to the area of the Drôme Provençal.

The climatic health resort Nyons, also named "little Nice", with an average annual sunshine of 3000 hours is only 20 miles away from us. Nyons is also THE place for Olive oil in France. You will appreciate the tasting of it in the "Cave Cooperative".  In addition, Drôme Provençale  approximately 30 thousand Lime trees and the tea made from their blossoms is a must for everyone!

The inhabitants of the Drôme Provençale are especially proud of their true black truffle (Tuber Melonosporum). As nowhere else in France, this mushroom grows especially well in our Mediterranean climate, rocky lime soil and the truffle oaks. Gathered between November and March the truffles impart a rare and unforgettable flavour to different delicious meals.

There is an endless list of things to discover inthis small area. The valleys are home to rare plants such as wild orchids, rare birds and butterflies promising a rich reward to nature loving hikers.

Life in France is not all energetic.  Visit the small villages where even a few words of French are appreciated by the local people. Take time off to drink coffee in the small cafes, sitting in the sun (or shade if you prefer) and just watching the world go by and you will return home with memories that will last a lifetime.
